Visiting Medical Students & Residents

The Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) invites medical students and residents who intend to pursue a career in rheumatology to apply to a 1 month rotation.
This rotation will provide the opportunity for medical students and residents to engage in important career opportunities, including:
- Clinical exposure to rheumatology and clinical immunology
- Inpatient rotations on the rheumatology consult service at Milstein Hospital
- Outpatient rotations at Herbert Irving Pavilion (HIP) Faculty & Fellow Practice
- Exposure to rheumatology research
- Career mentorship opportunity throughout training
Eligibility
Potential applicants should:
- For medical students:
- Be enrolled in medical school, preferably LCME or AOA accredited
- International medical students are accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Have intentions of pursuing a residency in internal medicine
- Have a strong academic record
- For residents:
- Be enrolled in an internal medicine residency program, preferably ACGME accredited
- International residents are accepted on case-by-case basis
- Have intentions of pursuing a fellowship in rheumatology
- Have a strong academic record
Application Requirements
- Email expression of interest detailing your current academic program, interest in rheumatology, and desired rotation timeline
- Current curriculum vitae (CV) with complete details of educational experience, and if applicable, leadership, research and community service experiences
- Two letters of recommendation from clinicians who can speak to your clinical skills and knowledge
- Official medical school transcript
