I have good news to share about the future of your child’s healthcare.
As parents you know all too well how quickly children grow up. Watching our children grow is one of life’s great joys but for the pediatrician the transition to young adulthood frequently marks a disruption of clinical care. I am pleased to announce that I am expanding my practice beyond infants, children and teens to include young adults, through a transition program in Adolescent Rheumatology that I am founding in collaboration with the Department of Medicine. I will continue to see your children in settings familiar to you as well as in some new locations. Appointment times have been expanded in Downtown Manhattan, Greenwich Hospital, Nyack Hospital, and Chappaqua–Northern Westchester Hospital as well as the main uptown Columbia University Medical Center Campus at NewYork Presbyterian (NYP) in the Irving Pavilion on the corner of Fort Washington and 165th street, just across from the garden. You will find these facilities to be well administered and efficient and appointments much easier to arrange.
You will be able to reach me at (212) 305-4308 to make your next appointment to continue your care without pause.
I have treated thousands of children beset with auto-immune and auto-inflammatory diseases over a 25 year span, from Chief Pediatric Resident to Director of Pediatric Rheumatology. My new leadership positions - President-Elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics Executive Committee on Rheumatology and now the Director of Adolescent Rheumatology – will draw heavily on that experience. I am grateful to the Medical Center for this opportunity to advance our programs in patient care, research and education.
I have worked with you and your children, in many cases for decades, and I have become part of your family and you, part of mine. I will continue to work with you every single day to make sure - as my mentor, the late Dr. Jerry C. Jacobs said - that your child is not forced to skip childhood as a result of Auto-Immune and Inflammatory Diseases, and will reach adulthood in an abundance of health.
With personal gratitude, I send best wishes to you and your loved ones.
Lisa Imundo, M.D.
